Yoga and Physical Science

He has obtained M.Sc. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and Ph D in Theoretical Physics (quantum field theory) from the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru in 1991. He has done further research in theoretical /computational biology and complex systems for about 5 years at Pierre and Marie Curie University, Paris in France; Kyoto University in Kyoto, Japan, and Utrecht University in Utrecht, Holland. He has worked as a visiting scientist at Santa Fe Institute for Complex System Research, Santa Fe in New Mexico, USA and University of Helsinki, Helsinki in Finland. He has worked as a Faculty Scientist at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology for 6 years, and as a professor and chairperson of the Physics Department for 3 years at Dayananda Sagar University in Bangalore, India. He has worked in various Ethiopian universities as Associate/Full professor for about 6 years. He has been a visiting scientist at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India; Centre for philosophy and foundations of science, New Delhi, India; Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India; International institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, India; Kyoto University, Japan; National Institute for Advanced Studies, Bangalore, India; Poorna Prajna Institute of Scientific Research, Bangalore, India; Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He has published 35 research papers in the areas of quantum field theory, materials science, mathematical models of evolution, ecology, population genetics, and computer models in bioinformatics. Ha has taught 25 different courses in physics, life sciences and computation at Ph D, Post Graduate and Undergraduate levels since 2002. He is also interested in Western philosophy, Indian philosophy and philosophy of science. He has written book chapters in bioinformatics, evolution theory, interdisciplinary topics of philosophy of science, Vedanta philosophy and consciousness studies. He has been keenly interested in spirituality and human empowerment since early 1990’s. He has undergone revealing spiritual experiences of higher consciousness in the process of meditation. He has joined as Dean, school of yoga and physical science, SVYASA University in April 2022.
