Ramesh M N have been involved in academic research from past 14 years. Starting in the field of plant tissue culture during my MSc, Ramesh M N moved into the field of immunology. Working as Research assistant in one of the reputed medical school in India Ramesh M N published two papers (J Psychosom Res.(2007) Jul; 63(1):65-9; ClinRheumatol.(2003) 22(4-5): 268-70). After these initial research experiences Ramesh M N started my PhD with Max Planck fellowship in Germany. My PhD work was aimed at understanding the mechanism of interplay between supercoiling and chromatin proteins in growth phase dependent regulation of gene expression in E.coli. From this work we proposed a novel system of spatio-temporally coordinated gene regulation by differential distribution of two types of information- analog (continuous component – DNA supercoiling) & digital (discontinuous component – pattern of expressed genes). During this challenging and satisfying research experience Ramesh M N published four papers (Nucleic Acids Res. (2007) 35(18):6330-7; EMBO Rep. (2006)7(7): 710-5; J Mol Biol. (2003)331(2):331-44; one more submitted to EMBO rep.) and also gained international exposure in research. During my postdoctoral research training at the UMass Medical School Ramesh M N worked on eukaryotic system and protein biology working in labs specializing in Drosophila (model organism) & structural biology labs respectively.
